As you can see from the picture this was a very large Bathroom Mirror. I believe it was 14 foot long. I know it hung out way over the back of the truck and it’s a long cab Ford. The challenge with Bathroom Mirrors like this is safety first!
Bathroom Mirrors or any type of mirrored glass are very dangerous. Mirrors are made of plate glass, which unlike tempered glass, used in some windows and glass shower doors, plate glass breaks into very sharp dangerous pieces. To be safe with this large bathroom mirror, the number one most important thing was not to put the mirror at an awkward angle. You can not bow or bend this mirror at all. It can cause it to shatter and we do not want that! The second most important thing is to always have wood or carpet under the mirror or pretty much any glass. Concrete, Metal and some tile will cause glass to break when set upon it. Always prepare a rug or a piece of plywood to set your Mirror or any kind of glass on before bringing it into the work area.
As for this particular bathroom mirror we had to be extremely careful because of the amount of room we had to work with. This mirror had to be lifted above the window ledge and slowly pushed into the final spot from one side while the other side was held at the equal height to avoid bending. Then the other side of the bathroom mirror had to be carefully pushed forward into place in a very awkward angle. This bathroom mirror is without a doubt one we will not forget installing.
So if you need a large custom bathroom mirror installed carefully and correctly, just give us a call at AJ’s Glass and Mirrors, we will be thrilled to help you out with any custom glass, mirror or shower design and installation.
